National Export Award Categories

In 2017, applications for export awards will be accepted in the following categories:

Agribusiness
For outstanding international success in the field of agricultural products, services or technology including processed foods and beverages and the forestry, fisheries and fibres industries.

Business Services
For outstanding international success in the professional business services including legal, accounting, administration and support services, business management, marketing services, franchising and licensing, engineering, financial and insurance, market research and translation services.

Creative Industries
For outstanding international success across all creative industries including music and performing arts, film, television and radio, software & interactive content, writing, publishing & print media, architecture and design & visual arts.

Digital Technologies
For outstanding international success in the field of information and communication products, technology or services that are concerned with the storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of digital data including software and games.

E-commerce
For outstanding success by an Australian business in selling goods or services to customers overseas via an electronic network.

Education and Training
For outstanding innovation and international success in the field of education and training services, expertise and curriculum including vocational training.

Environmental Solutions
For outstanding international success in environmental solutions, clean energy innovation, materials and energy efficiency, waste and water management, green buildings and R&D collaboration.

Health and Biotechnology
For outstanding international success in medical, healthcare, biotechnology fields for products, technology, equipment or services.

Manufacturing
For outstanding international success by a manufacturer.

Minerals, Energy and Related Services
For outstanding international success in in the production or primary processing of extractive and value-added minerals or energy products; mining equipment, technology and services (METS) to the minerals and energy industries.

Regional Exporter
For outstanding international success by a business whose head office is based in a non-metropolitan location.  

Small Business
For outstanding international success by any business with total annual sales not exceeding $5million.

Additional award categories

The following additional awards are available:

NSW Exporter of the Year
The Premier's NSW Exporter of the Year will be selected from the 12 National Category Award winners.

NSW Asian Exporter Award
For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise in any industry sector, that has attained particular success in exporting goods or services to Asia.

NSW Emerging Exporter & Export Scholarship Award
For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise in any industry sector which has been exporting goods or services for three years or less, including an export scholarship that provides an opportunity for a business to expand export operations by up-skilling its staff. The scholarship covers relevant tuition fees and prescribed textbook for one staff member to attend the Export Procedures & Documentation Course. The course can be undertaken within 12 months.

NSW Innovation in Export Award
For a NSW company that has made innovation an integral part of their exporting process. Given the current challenges facing NSW exporter's today this award will go to a company that highlights new and creative strategies to help build and sustain their export business. The awards will be judged across all industry sectors.

NSW International Development Award
For outstanding international success in helping developing countries boost trade and investment and encourage economic growth, for example, through supporting the economic development in low income countries by: (i) improving the business or regulatory environment; (ii) upgrading labour skills; (iii) improving infrastructure that enables trade or investment; or (iv) creating conditions for better regional integration to enable trade or investment.

NSW Women in International Business Award
For outstanding export achievement by an enterprise, led by a woman in any industry sector. The award particularly focuses on achievement in international markets as well as an ongoing commitment to international trade relations.

Western Sydney Exporter Award
For outstanding export achievement in any Industry sector, by an enterprise located in the Greater Western Sydney area.

NSW Defence Industry Award
For outstanding export achievement in designing, manufacturing and adapting world class products/services to meet military requirements globally. This category is open for all NSW companies exporting in all industry sectors that can demonstrate that they are supplying into defence markets overseas.
